The Lahoma Sun, Lahoma, Garfield Co., OK, February 21, 1913, page 1, column 5

Mrs. Gertie Pittman was born in Ellsworth Co., Kas., February 19, 1880, and died Tuesday morning, Feb. 18, 1913, at the University Hospital in Enid where she had been taken for treatment. She had been ill for some time as a result of having a tooth extracted which resulted in an acute case of neuralgia going into a complication of brain trouble and blood poisoning.

Mrs. Pittman came to Oklahoma with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. West, when it was opened for settlement. She was married to Caswell Pittman August 27, 1896. To this union were born 9 children, one of whom died in infancy. She united with the Pleasant Valley Christian Church in 1900 and lived a devout Christian life. Her husband died March 7, 1912, she having survived him nearly a year.

Mrs. Pittman leaves 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls, father, mother, six brothers and a host of friends. The funeral was held at the home at 1 o'clock p.m., February 19, 1913. The services were conducted by Rev. Manley of Enid and the burial was in Miller Cemetery. The pall-bearers were C.E. Carlson, John Maphet, W.H. Houser, A.C. Cottom, John Coward, and Frank Lockett. Relatives from a distance were Rev. and Mrs. Henry Pittman, and L.C. West and wife of May, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Pittman and Mrs. Elliott Scott of Supply, Okla.; Frank Pittman of Bluff City, Kas.; and Will Pittman and wife and R.D. West and wife of Enid. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
