| Birth: | Aug. 6, 1918 | | Death: | Feb. 3, 2002 |  Joseph F. Adamo, of Harrington, died Monday, February 3, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, he was 84. Mr. Adamo was born in Bethpage Long Island, New York to the late Crispino Adamo and Antoinina Adamo.
Mr. Adamo served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII overseas in France and Germany. After serving his country, Mr. Adamo opened a nightclub in Farmingdale Long Island for a short while until he went into the horse business. Mr. Adamo not only owned harness horses, but he trained and drove them as well. He raced in New York, New Jersey and even into Montreal, Canada. Upon moving into Delaware, Mr. Adamo had a horse breeding farm on Raughley Hill Road in Harrington. He really loved his horses, and took great pride in them. He could often times be found at Harrington Race Track watching the races and simulcast.
Mr. Adamo was also into developing property. He developed Lucky Estates and Scenic Acres. He also built and leased two local day cares. He was always looking for another piece of property to develop.
Mr. Adamo was a member of the Harrington Moose #534, the American Legion Post #7 of Harrington, US Trotters Association, and a representative for a few years for the New Jersey Standardbred Owners Association. Mr. Adamo also liked to golf and was a very good golfer.
Mr. Adamo will be remembered as a man of his word, and a person who made friends easily. He always was willing to help the "underdog" and those in need. He was a very loving father and husband who loved his family dearly and was very proud of his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Lucille Adamo of Harrington, a son Christopher J. Adamo of Fayetteville, NC, a daughter Nina A. Eubank of Wake Forest, NC, a brother Barney A. Adamo of Farmingdale, New York, two sisters Katherine D'Aloisio of Long Island, New York, and Rose Sawzak of Lakewood, CA, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
