"Barbarously murdered, by a band of hired Dacoits, at his house, Fureedabad, Juanpore, on the night of the 15th of last December, Mr. James Barwise, indigo planter, formerly of
Margate, but for the last eighteen years a resident of Juanpore. They seem to have gone to the house with the matured design of murder. [illegible] ... with whom a lawsuit had been pending for several years.
