Obituary from The Bourbon Mirror, 01 Oct 1885
A Good Man has Fallen.
Franklin Martin, an old and highly esteemed citizen of this vicinity, died last Monday morning, Sep. 28, after a long and painful illness, aged 78 years, 4 months and 28 days. The deceased was an eminently pure and honorable man, and throughout a long life set an example which may be referred to in future years with pride by his numerous posterity, all of whom without exception, we believe, inherit or possess the same qualities which compelled all who knew the ancestor during life to regard him as a good citizen, and honest man, and trusty friend. He leaves an aged wife, several sons and daughters, and numerous grandchildren to mourn their loss.
The funeral ceremonies were held at Bethel church, and was numerously attended. Elder H. A. Snepp, of this place, delivered the funeral sermon, in which he paid a glowing tribute to the deceased, who, he said, was an upright man in all his dealings and acts during life, and died without a stain upon his character.
After the close of the funeral services in the church the remains were tenderly carried to the cemetery adjoining and deposited by loving hands in their last resting place.
