|Birth: ||Mar. 20, 1808|
Rhode Island, USA
|Death: ||Oct. 26, 1861|
Inscription: As a musician he had few superiors, as a performer upon his favorite instrument, the bugle, he had no equal.
He was a kind husband, an indulgent father, a faithful friend-ever ready to respond promptly to the calls of charity and to freely exercise his great talent in the cause of suffering humanity.
To perpetuate the memory of one who did so much to elevate the profession which he himself adorned, this monument procured by the voluntary contribution of those who admired his genius as an artist, was erected by a few of his personal friends who knew and appreciated him, not only as an artist but as a man. December 1866.
