Addison Hyde Coyner was born May 11, 1809, in the Long Glade area of Augusta County, Virginia, the youngest of nine children born to Martin Luther KEINADT and Elizabeth RHEA.
On November 8, 1831, Addison married Elizabeth BROWN, the daughter of the Rev. Johann George BRAUN (John George Brown) and Elizabeth FALL, and to Addison and Elizabeth were born seven children: Maria Elisabeth, Lydia Margaret, Samuel Brown, Sarah Louise, James William, John Addison, and Charles Luther Coyner.
Addison had inherited his father's homestead in Augusta County and retained ownership even though he relocated the family in early 1856 to Dry Grove Township in the Bloomington area of McLean County, Illinois. According to family lore, Addison moved the family but became sick after only a few months in Illinois and eventually died.
Addison Hyde Coyner's cause of death on November 17, 1856, is not known, however, it is suspected that he either caught cold or pneumonia and succumbed in the winter month of November.
After his death his wife, Elizabeth (Brown) Coyner, remained working the farm in Dry Grove Township until the early 1870s. His children all lead successful lives, and one son, Charles Luther Coyner, eventually moved back to Augusta County, Virginia, circa 1910, and is thought to have maintained the old Coyner homestead there.
