Pvt Thomas Jefferson Fenn, Sr
Birth: 1828
Hall County
Georgia, USA
Death: Sep. 1, 1864
The Rock
Upson County

Co. A, 1st Regiment, Georgia State Line, CSA

Thomas J. Fenn wrote numerous letters to his family while serving in the Confederate Army. He expressed his love for the family and gave advice and/or directions on what to do about the farm business. In some of the last letters he wrote, he expressed doubts that the Confederacy was right in going to war.

He became ill and died from pneumonia in Rock Hospital, Upson Co, Ga. He was buried in an unmarked grave. In 2000, two of his descendants met at the cemetery site and made arrangements for a gravestone to be placed on one of the twelve graves of unknown soldiers in his memory.

Two of his brothers, Willam P. Fenn, and George W. Fenn, also died in the War.
