CENTERVILLE Mary Frances (Driscoll) Gould, 87 years old, passed away peacefully on Cape Cod Jan. 11, 2011, after living there since 1985.Born in Somerville in 1923, she is predeceased by her husband John, sister Elizabeth Sweeney, and brothers Joseph and Charles Driscoll. Mary was married for 52 years to Edward "John" Gould, Army major (Ret.), who was a decorated veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He passed away in 2000.Mary had a wonderful, remarkable life traveling the world as a military wife. While stationed in Japan, Mary enjoyed the fine art of Ikebana (floral arranging). Living in Germany allowed her to travel extensively throughout Europe with her family. After retirement, Mary enjoyed several trips to her ancestral homeland of Ireland. Mary was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be deeply missed.Mary was the mother of five devoted children: son Robert Gould and his wife Kay of Pennsylvania, daughter Nancy Ill and her husband Greg of Cape Cod, son John Gould and his wife Debra of Prides Crossing, Mass., son Fredrick of Cape Cod, and daughter Marylynne Dacey and her husband Jay of Norwell. Mary was also the devoted Nana to nine grandchildren, Eric Ill, Gretchen Arvanitopoulos, Megan Anderson, Moira Gould, Patrick Gould, Haley Gould, Jack Gould, Jack Dacey and Katelyn Dacey. Mary's four great-grandchildren are Nikolaos Arvanitopoulos, Gregory Arvanitopoulos, Brennan Anderson and Shane Anderson, whom they loving referred to her as Gigi. She had several loving nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Mimi.A Mass and celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. She will be buried alongside her husband, Maj. (Ret.) According to the 1930 census Mary Driscoll was born in 1923, living at 73 Lexington Av. in Somerville, Ma., with her sister Betty (Elizabeth) and her brother Joseph and her parents: Patrick J. Driscoll and her mother, Hannah.
