"John Thomas Hope, 64, of 1239 East Fourth street, died April 21 at his home.
He was born in Boone County, Iowa, and came to Long Beach eight years ago from Omaha, Neb. He was a pipefitter employed by the Todd Ship Building Co. from 1940 to 1946, and was a trustee of Local No. 9 Ship Yard Worker's union. He was a member of the Episcopal church and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Agnes Hope of Long Beach; a son, John T. Hope jr., of Omaha; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Perkins of Omaha, and Mrs. George Heath of Kingman, Ariz.; four sisters and eight grandchildren. Services and interment will be in Omaha, with Mortell's mortuary in charge oflocal arrangements." (Long Beach Independent, April 23, 1948)
