Loren M. Schaeffler
Loren M. Schaeffler, 57, of Lafayette, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 27, at the St. Mary?s Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Cemetery in Lafayette. Father Edward J. Ardolf will celebrate the mass.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Loren is survived by his mother, Stella Schaeffler of New Ulm; a sister, Leah Stresemann and her husband Allan of Colorado; a son, Tony Schaeffler and his wife Stacy and their 3 children of Prior Lake; daughter, Jennifer Schaeffler of New Ulm; and stepdaughters, Christina, Nicole, Theresa and Kelly.
Loren was preceded in death by his father in March of 1984; and a son, Joseph Schaeffler in April of 1969.
Loren Michael Schaeffler was born January 1, 1949. in New Ulm. Loren was the son of Clarence and Stella (Neidecker) Schaeffler. He graduated from New Ulm Public High School in 1966. After high school, Loren worked as a plumber for several years. In 1975 he started his own business repairing all types of electronic equipment, In 1983 he started repairing concertinas, an instrument that he loved. He was very well known for an electronic concertina system that he designed and installed in many concertinas throughout the country. Loren was one of the concertina players in the popular North side Dutchmen Band. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and computers.
Loren is my 3rd cousin.
