Aaron served in Company A of the 3rd Tennessee Infantry. He enlisted February 10, 1862. Aaron had light hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. He contracted diarrhea and bleeding piles at Pine Knot, Kentucky and a wound from a flying piece of shell or "misel" at the Battle of Resaca, Ga. He developed kidney and bladder disease at Atlanta in the summer of 1864. Early in the war he was captured at the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky in 1862. December 13, 1863 he was acquited of a charge of absence without leave by a General Court Martial.
