West Point class of 1869. Served in the 7th US Calvary. Son in-law of Gen. Thomas Devin. Buried with his wife Jeanette Braden.

Served as a pallbearer for his former commander, George A. Custer, when he was buried at West Point on October 10, 1877.
Posthumous recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross.
