ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Nathan "Tubby" Arden Jestness will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, with the Rev. James Rushton officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston.
Mr. Jestness, 73, of Rochester, formerly of Preston, died Thursday (Nov. 15, 2007) at his home following a lengthy illness with Parkinson's disease.
He was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Preston, where he attended school. He graduated from Preston High School in 1953 and served in the Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955. On Dec. 31, 1957, he married Lorraine Hass in Grace Lutheran Church in Preston. The couple lived in Preston before moving to Rochester in 1959. He worked for Mayo Clinic at Saint Marys and downtown in the X-ray department. He retired in 1994 after 38 years. He also was a special deputy with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Department from 1967 to 1980. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Rochester.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, LaRita (John) Henneman of Grantsburg, Wis.; two sons, Jayme (Carrie) of Pleasant Grove, Minn., and Timothy of Mill Creek, Wash.; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Friends may call an hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston is in charge of arrangements.
