CRYSTAL LAKE TRAGEDY... FALLS YOUTH, 16, DROWNS

A rural Sheboygan Falls youth today became Sheboygan County's first drowning victim of the year.

Wayne Douglas Bosman, 16, son of Audley and Ann Ziemke Bosman of R. 2, Sheboygan Falls, was found floating near shore at Crystal Lake at 8:22 a.m.

The youth had been visiting the cottage of Mrs. Bernard McCabe.

When the boy didn't return to the cottage, Eugene McCabe called sheriff deputies at 1:50 a.m. to report him missing. The boy's clothes and wallet were found in a bath house.

He was reported to be not a good swimmer.

Deputies began a search for the body at 7 a.m.

The last drowning in Sheboygan County took place almost a year ago, when another 16-year-old youth died while swimming in Lake Ellen on June 29, 1971.

Wayne Bosman was born May 15, 1956 in Sheboygan. He lived with his parents on a farm in rural Gibbsville.

The youth was a baptized member of the Gibbsville Reformed Church. He was to start his junior year at Sheboygan Falls High School next fall.

Survivors are his parents; one sister, Susan, and one brother, Alan, both at home; his maternal grandmother Mrs. Anna Ziemke; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Jessie Bosman, Sheboygan Falls.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Gibbsville Reformed Church, with the Rev. Arthur L. Scheid, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Gibbsville Cemetery.
