Clarence Davenport, 87, of 1102 Manning, died on Feb. 22nd at William Newton Memorial Hospital. Born in Ripley, Okla, on Oct. 18, 1896, he was the son of Andrew and Amanda Davenport.
Davenport moved to Winfield in 1904. He was a paper hanger and painter until he began enployment with the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in 1952. He retired from there in 1962.
Davenport was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edith, of the home; a son Clarence Jr., of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Ilene Parsons of Anthony; a sister, Jesse Kriger, of Winfield; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made at the funeral home.
