Richard was a very accomplished guitar player and had a great love of music. He auditioned for Tex Ritter as a young man growing up in Paducah, and was offered an opportunity to travel with him. Times being such as they were his opportunity did not materialize. There was never a day that he didn't spend time playing his guitar. He was a born again Christian and had a great love for his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
