| Birth: | May 20, 1813 Williamsburg West James City County Virginia, USA | | Death: | Oct. 14, 1877 Hamburg (Page County) Page County Virginia, USA | Francis Barham was the son of Bennett Kerby Barham and Jane Whitaker Lee in Williamsburg, Virginia. He moved to the Luray, Page County area before 1839 and married Mary Lamberson on January 19, 1839. They lived in the area the rest of their lives. Francis died in Hamburg and was buried in the Ruffner-Bauserman Cemetery on the Reuben Ruffner farm, located immediately across the country road from his home.
Francis enlisted for military service on June 22, 1861, in Company M, 97 Regiment, Virginia Militia. He was mustered in as a Private but was discharged on September 9, 1861, with his age listed as 45. In fact, most of the Page County volunteers were released on this date so that they could return to their farms to harvest their crops but Francis was released unconditionally, probably due to his age or poor health.
