Son of Arthur T. Groome and Marie A. Lange Groome.
Robert, who resided at 116 North Walnut Street, Newport, Delaware, served as a Private First Class with 897th Medium Bombardment Squadron, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on December 13, 1941 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted as being employed as an Actor and as Single, without dependents.
He was died during a training exercise when his plane crashed in Albany, Texas. Four other soldiers were also killed in the crash. (see article)
He had served the Air Corps for one year and three months at the time of his death.
