Human bones found in Scurry County, Texas, last month have been identified as missing 13-year-old cheerleader Hailey Dunn, according to the family's attorney.
John Young, attorney for the Dunn family, told HLN that authorities recovered the bones on March 16 off a State highway.
Law enforcement officials told HLN last month the remains were discovered near Lake J.B. Thomas, which is about 12 miles from Snyder, Texas. The lake is about 30 miles from Colorado City, where Hailey was last seen alive at her mother's home on Dec. 27, 2010.
Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, was notified of the identification by Texas Rangers on Friday. She is currently attempting to make travel arrangements to head back to Colorado City to mourn the loss of her daughter, Young told HLN.
Officials from Scurry County, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers and the FBI will hold a press conference at 5 p.m. ET with further details.
