CM2/c Charles David Fortenberry was born October 6, 1920 in Hichita, Oklahoma. He was the son of Will and Ida Mabry Fortenberry and the husband Ruth Adaline Dupy. David was in the US Navy in WW II. He entered the Seabees in October 1943, trained in Fargo, Texas, Boston, Mass. and Seattle, Wash. He served in the American Theatre on the USS Arlington. Uncle David was very generous and he was a lot of fun to be around. He bought me a rod and reel when we were at Cortez, Co. so that we could all go trout fishing at Trout Lake. That day, we caught over fifty trout. Uncle David and my mother, Wanda loved to fish. I'll never forget the day that we drove over the Million Dollar Highway between Ouray and Silverton, Colorado in the back of his new pickup truck. David and Ruth's children were Patsy, Charles, and Terry. Uncle David was a very loving, generous and fun person. I miss him alot.
