Shirley I. Haarer, 82, of Shipshewana, IN, died at 10:43 am on Sunday, September 25 at IU Health Goshen Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born on March 5, 1929, in LaGrange, to Ira and Mabel (Speicher) Mishler. On June 3, 1951 in LaGrange County she married Paul W. Haarer.

Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Rebecca Haarer; a son, Charles (Barbara) Haarer; two granddaughters, Chelsea (Wes) Gorsuch and Erin (Shawn) Schrader; a great granddaughter, Claire Emilene Gorsuch; a sister, Clara (Mark) Bontrager, a brother, Maurice (Dorothy) Mishler, and a sister-in-law, Esther Mishler.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gerald Mishler. She was a homemaker and a member of Marion Mennonite Church where she was active as a quilter in the women's sewing circle, she was also a well known and respected employee for 39 years at Haarer's Quaint Shop in Shipshewana, which later became Rebecca Haarer Arts & Antiques.
