Scott Timothy Alsdorf, 59, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 1, 9:00 a.m. at Overflow Worship Center, 2958 Grape Street, 79601 to be followed by Military Honors Ceremony beginning 11:00 a.m. at Texas State Veteran's Cemetery, 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, Texas 79601.

Scott was born January 5, 1955, in Savannah, Georgia to Albert Jacob Alsdorf and Rosemary McGraw Alsdorf. After family moved to Abilene, he attended St. Joseph Academy, Central Catholic High School, Cooper High School, and Cisco Junior College.

Scott joined the United States Air Force August 31, 1972 and was a Viet Nam War Veteran with Honorable Discharge from service. Scott dealt with military service-related disability the rest of his life, and which finally led to his passing. He was a mechanic extraordinaire, working in this field after his discharge from USAF, with knowledge and training in auto, diesel, and airplane mechanics.

Scott married Laura Jean Mercer of Abilene, Texas on May 10, 1977 in Lubbock, Texas and they celebrated 37 years together. A stronger more devoted love has never been shared. Scott loved his family deeply. He was ever the protector and provider, with Laura being the teacher and nurturer. Even through the last several years as Scott's service-related health problems worsened, they stood by one another through the hardest of times, supporting one another and their bond and love only grew stronger.

Scott also deeply loved his children and grandchildren. They were the pride of his life; his hopes and love for them had no bounds. There was never a visit with Scott that they were not mentioned, as they were always on his mind and in his heart. He loved all children, including especially his many nieces and nephews. With deep-rooted love and respect for his mother, father, sisters, and brother, Scott also loved and cherished his many friends. After God, family, and country, he loved his tools and Harley.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Rosemary Alsdorf of Gulf Shores, Alabama; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Aubrey and Leta Mercer of Abilene; and nephew, Craig Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Alsdorf; his children and grandchildren, Daniel Scott Alsdorf and wife Kristi of Chugach, Alaska; Stacey Alsdorf Pittillo and husband Chas of Abilene; Alexandria Nelson of Abilene; Trevor Scott Nelson of Abilene; Orren Alsdorf and Arbor Alsdorf of Chugach, Alaska; Mark Alsdorf and wife Linda of Tijeras, New, Mexico; sister, Carolyn Brown and husband Billy of Gulf Shores, Alabama; sister, Amy Spoon of Foley, Alabama.

We, his family and friends, love and will miss him greatly until we meet again.
