"Hugh Maxwell Dead

Hugh Maxwell, an ex-soldier and prominent citizen, of Newville, Ind., died April 14, aged 68 years, 3 months and 17 days. He was a pioneer of the county having located with his father's family in Newville township in 1841. During his army service in the 11th Regt Indiana, Vols., he was captured and later escaped from confederate prison and successfully made the trip of 500 miles to the union lines."
