Son of Monroe and Mary Ashby.
Husband of Alice Ashby.
Father of Patricia Satterwhite, Carolyn Sue Harrigan, and Brenda Drerenberger.
After graduating from Newburg High in 1946, Charlie served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
After his service, Charlie met his wife, Alice, and moved to Maryland where he raised three daughters.
Charlie worked for Harvey Dairy and then owned and operated Charlie's Amoco in Bladensburg, Md., until his retirement.
Charlie loved baseball and was approached three times by the Brooklyn Dodgers while in high school. Although he decided against pro-baseball, his love of the sport never waned.
He was a softball and basketball coach for his three daughters. In addition, he was an avid bowler for over 60 years.
Charlie took up golf with a passion and could often be found with his buddies at Old Landing and Jonathan's Landing golf courses.
He passed this love of golf onto his grandchildren and delighted in "teeing it up" with them.
