Joseph Thomas Brubaker, born 11/12/1846, son of Peter and Martha Aleshire Brubaker. "He was born in the large brick house erected by his grandparents, John and Barbara Mauck Brubaker, in about 1829. He grew up on the farm." In May 1864, he was one of about forty-five 17-year old boys enrolled in Captain Thomas J. Keyser's Boy Company of Reserves from Page County. He later served as the orderly sgt. for Co. G, 3rd Battalion Virginia Cavalry. "He went to Ohio in 1865, when about 20 years of age and settled in Licking Co. After remaining there one year, he returned to Virginia, but year later he returned to Licking County. Sometime later he went to Champaign Co., where he resided for two years. Then he moved to Logan Co., where he resided for many years and until his death on December 25, 1932. he was treasurer and assessor in Stokes Township for a number of terms. He retired from the farm and had been living in Lakeview for some years."
Married 12/15/1870 to Sallie R. Louderback (11/24/1849-5/13/1874) Married second time, 9/5/1878 to Sarah Elizabeth Craig. She was still alive in January 1932.
