Edward W. Moore, 99, of 405 E. Manning, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.

He was born June 22, 1909 in Van Buren County to Frank and Minerva Winters Moore. He married Frances L. Beagle Aug. 20, 1948 in Muscatine, Iowa. She died July 16, 2005.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a Prisoner of War during World War II. He was a retired electrician who had worked in Mount Pleasant. He was also a life member of V.F.W.

Survivors include one son, James (Candy) Moore of Ottumwa; three stepdaughters, Cindy Doak of Boden, Ill., Beverly Sowers of Milan, Ill. and Pat Lundell of Kingman, Ariz.; two brothers, Charles of Selma and David Rex of Eldon; one sister, Margaret Pool of Fairfield; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Moore; three brothers, George, Harold and Theodore; and one sister, Louise Essary.

A private graveside service will be held at Shaul Cemetery with O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.Robertson-Jay
