My mother was devoted to a long list of names...daughter to Mildred & to her Stepfather, Wayne, sister to Debra, David & Janey, sister-in law to 10 couples, wife, to Jack, mother to me, mother-in-law to Kevin, grandmother, to Danette, friend to all who had that priveleged distinction, & servant to her Lord, Jesus. She gave of herself, unselfishly, to anyone in need. She took care of the elderly & the sick. She loved all children & frequently brought into her home children whose parents were having a rough time, until they could figure things out. She did the most menial job as unto the Lord. She cleaned stuff as though her life depended on it, she was an expert at ironing clothes for folks & she fed, washed & loved the sick and/or elderly as no one else could, even if they weren't very nice people. She wore her heart on her sleeve, so her feelings were easily hurt because she loved so deeply. But, she was as tough as nails & a fierce defender. All you had to do, was scream "SNAKE!" & she'd come running with a weapon, & kill that snake 'graveyard dead'! This act, along with her fierce, long battle with cancer (always with a warm, welcoming smile to anyone she visted with), made her the bravest person I've ever known! Love is most definitely her legacy. If she loved you, you belonged to her.
