Isaac Trout, Spanish War Vet, Dies At 92
Isaac R. Trout, the last local surviving veteran of the U.S. Marines who participated in the Spanish-American War, died Wednesday in the Lebanon Veterans Hospital. He was 92 and had formerly resided at 65 Chester St.
Born in Belmont, Pa., he was a son of the late Isaac B. and Rebecca Downey Trout and the husband of the late Elizabeth Flory Trout. He retired in 1938 after 34 years as a track foreman with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Lancaster.
Besides participating in the Spanish-American War, he also served with the First Marine Regiment in the Phillipines and in China during the Boxer Rebellion.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen, wife of Charles L. Waidley, Christiana; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
