Sgt Bradford H. Trowt
Birth: 1846
Essex County
Massachusetts, USA
Death: 1865
Prince George County
Virginia, USA

Bradford H. TROWT was born about 1846 in Wenham, Essex, MA, the son of Asa Woodbury TROWT and Adaline F. DODGE.

As he grew to maturity, young Bradford took on the occupation of Cordwainer (making shoes as opposed to repairing them).

With the coming of the Civil War, he enlisted as a Private; Company "K," 11th Massachusetts Infantry and was promoted to full sergeant on November 23, 1864. Bradford died aged 18 years at City Point, Prince George, VA on 2 Apr 1865, the same day of the Fall of Petersburg, concluding the longest siege in US military history.

City Point was a Union wharf, supply point, hospital and headquarters area throughout the Siege of Petersburg. It is not clear whether Bradford TROWT died there from battlefield wounds or from disease. City Point was later annexed by nearby Hopewell, VA.
