Baragona was assigned to 19th Maintenance Battalion, Fort Sill, Oklahoma as the commanding officer. Killed when a tractor-trailer jackknifed on the road and collided with his HMMWV. The military was his career, but his family was his life. Dominic especially liked Christmas and always made a big deal of getting the family together. He grew up in Niles and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in nearby Warren, Ohio. He was a 1982 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. One of seven children, Dominic was an avid football and baseball fan. His middle name, Rocco, was chosen for Indians slugger Rocky Colavito, and he went by the nickname Rocky.
