During World War II, she was a "Rosie the Riveter" at Ellington Air Force Base. While working there one morning, she was standing on a corner near Buff Stadium waiting for her car pool. A young soldier, who recently returned home from the North Africa area, was also waiting. He began to speak to her and she at first thought he was rather forward. To her surprise when her car pool came, the young soldier climbed into the car with her. She was later married to the soldier for 50 years before his death in 1994. Patsy worked many years at Burger's Cleaners, in Houston, as an inspector. In 1981 she and her husband retired and moved to Toledo Bend Lake.
