Dorothy Ann was born the 15th of 17 children to Florentine Bourg and Lucia Mathilda Beiriger.
Raised in Roseland, she moved to nearby Hastings Nebraska as a young adult and taught grade school for 3 years while singing for the various churches to make ends meet. She was known for her beautiful voice and worked her way through college by bringing joy to others. Shortly after visiting sisters in Long Beach, CA, she too moved to Long Beach. Here she met and married Dan Hoferer. They were married 26 years before he preceded her in death. In 1972 she met and married Frank Chamberlin, also in Long Beach, CA. They later moved to Yorba Linda, CA and upon Frank's retirement on to Paso Robles, CA where she resided until June of 2008. She was a well known and respected member of the Quail Run community and the Daffy Dillies Tennis club.
December 4, 2008 started out as a beautiful day, full of promise, in Rockwall, TX, her last residence. It ended with the earthly loss of her spirit at Baylor Hospital, Dallas, TX.
Most that knew Dorothy will never be able to see or read any maxims of the famous cartoon character 'Maxine', who can be counted on for sharp observation and wry humor, without thinking about Dorothy. She was the personification of the beloved character with a wit and the wisdom to match. Everyday was her birthday when she entered a restaurant.
Preceded in death by her two husbands Daniel William Hoferer and Francis Andrew Chamberlin, and the love of her life, John Wayne, she leaves behind a multitude of family that loved and respected her.
She requested no memorial service, and none is necessary as no one that met her would ever forget her. Her blessing to us continues.
