A son of Aaron (1812-1876) and Louisa Caroline Bates Burleson (1816-?). Enlisted as a private in Co. K, 5th Alabama Cavalry. Mustered at Howell's Store 4/2/62 by Captain J.M. Underwood, age 26. Enlisted for the war. At Cherokee, Alabama 11/62, 68 miles from rendezvous(?). Received a clothing issue on 3/3/64. No further record. This regiment was previously the 22nd Battalion Alabama Cavalry.

His body was interred March 1891 in Holcomb Cemetery.
