RACHEL WINANS -- 1816 -- 8-18-1900
Rachel Winans, one of the older residents of Richmond Township, Crawford County, passed away to spirit of life, at the age of 84 years. She leaves 8 sons and 5 daughters, 6 of the boys participated in the Civil War, Jason was killed at Hatcher's Run, David at Hanover Court House and James died at Anderson Prison, the remaining 5 sons and 5 daughters including Boyd F. Winans, of Kellettville, were at her bedside when the final summons came.
Funeral was held Monday afternoon in Spiritual Hall near Lyona, the interment being in Lyona Cemetery. Mrs. Baker of Spartansburg conducted the services.
