|Death: ||Feb., 1887|
This man was the first to be killed in what would become known as the Pleasant Valley War. His name is not recorded on the grave. Nearby is a cave with a name and date. This name has been associated with the dead herder but it is not positive. This man has been listed as a Ute indian, a Navajo indian and a Basque sheepherder. Local lore favors Basque sheephearder. Whichever, he is dead.
