Harold John "Red" Sollars died Sept. 29th, 1999, at Havasu Regional Medical Center. He was 72.
He was born Nov. 7, 1926 in St. Joseph, MO. Red brought his family to Lake Havasu City in August 1967 when he took a job teaching math in the Lake Havasu City schools. he served as a teacher, coach and administrator until his retirement from the district in 1989. He also taught math at Mohave Community College from 1990 to 1994.

Prior to moving to Lake Havasu City, he was an educator and coach at Ardmore High School in Ardmore, OK. he was the owner of Sollars Plumbing and Sporting Goods and played professional baseball with the Clevelnd Indians. While playing minor league ball in Ardmore, OK., he met and married Nelda Faye Barnett. He graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, Mo. in 1944. he joine the Navy the same year where he served as a tail gunner. He graduated with an associate's degree in 1963, bachelor's degree in 1964 and a master's degree in education in 1969 from Southeastern State College in Durant, OK.

He was active in sports througout his educational career, both as an athlete and a coach. He was an avid golfer, most recently playing Saturday mornings with the Hackers. he was an active member of St. Michael's United Methodist Church and was in the local Civil Air Patrol.
