Funeral rites for Jeremiah Asa Ames, 88, will be conducted from his late home in the town of Macomb at 11:30 this forenoon, the Rev. Frank Brown, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Harrisville, will officiate. Burial will be in the Edwardsville cemetery. Mr. Ames died at his home at 8.30 Sunday night from old age.
Mr. Ames was born in. Morristown May 2, 1841, and was the son of Asa Ames and Lucinda Ellenwood Ames. He spent his early life in Morristown and went to Macomb 59 years ago and since then he had engaged in farming in that vicinity. His wife died several years ago.
Mr. Ames was a member of the Black Lake Masonic lodge at Morristown, having joined the organization 66 years ago.
Surviving him, are a daughter, Mrs. Amber Conroy of Depeyster, two sons, Asa Ames of Macomb and Clark Ames of Depeyster, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
