Obituary in THE TIMES AND DEMOCRAT, Orangeburg, SC, 1 Jan 2004: Orangeburg - Funeral services for Lucille Lee, 88, of Neeses Highway, Orangeburg, will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at St. George Baptist Church, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Jimmy Hanf and the Rev. Eddie Fogle officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. Active pallbearers will be Harry Shroat III, David Brooker, Morgan Lee, Freddie Lee and Tim Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Women and Men's Sunday School Class of St. George Baptist Church. Miss Lee died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Miss Lee was born June 5, 1915, in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Stanmore Sawyer Lee Sr. and Maud Walton Lee. She was a member of St. George Baptist Church, Director of Training Union, a Sunday School teacher, a member and past president of the Women Missionary Union, member of the Home Extension, the Edisto Fork Grange, the Order of Eastern Star-Eutaw Chapter 162, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Palmetto Shrine #1, Columbia. She was employed with Austelle and Flinton Brokers and retired from Orangeburg Sausage Co. Miss Lee was preceded in death by five brothers, Wilson Lee, Herbert Lee, Sawyer Lee, Cap Lee and George Lee. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Nellie L. Brooker of Morningside and Mrs. Nortise (Mollie) Whisenhunt of the Methodist Oaks; one brother, Dr. Johnny H. Lee of Columbia. She is survived by her niece and her family with whom she made her home for many years; niece, Joan and Jim Dupree of Orangeburg; niece's family, Jimmy and Jenny Dupree of Augusta, Ga., Joe Dupree and Jill and Erik Hinds of Orangeburg, and Jack and Jennifer Dupree of Summerville; a number of other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 1, at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg. Friends may call at the residence of her niece, Joan and Jim Dupree, 949 Neeses Highway, Orangeburg, and at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. George Baptist Church, 2590 Shillings Bridge Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115.
