Brendan D. Iler, age 3 years, son of Jeffrey D. and Jamie Sloan Iler, of Holts Summit, Mo., died Sunday, September 25, 2005, at the Lake Ozark Hospital. Brendan was born June 17, 2002, in Jefferson City, Mo.

Other survivors include: maternal grandparents: Steve and Cheryl Sloan of Jefferson City, Mo.; paternal grandparents: Jeffrey and Eugenia Iler of Jefferson City, Mo.; paternal great grandparents: The Reverend Richard and Margaret Ward of Jefferson City, Mo.; one aunt, Jennifer Iler of Columbia, Mo.; one uncle: Aaron Sloan of Jefferson City, Mo. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2005, at the United Pentecostal Church. Interment will be at Summit Memorial Park Cemetery, Holts Summit, Mo.

A three-year-old Holts Summit boy drowned Sunday morning near the 36-mile marker at the Lake of the Ozarks in Camden County.

The victim, Brendan Iler, was discovered in about six feet of water two or three feet from a dock, according to the Missouri State Water Patrol report.

The mother, Jamie Iler, reported she and Jeffrey Steele, a family friend, heard a door shut at about 8 a.m. and they began searching for the child.

At 8:36 a.m., the child was pulled from the water by Steele and CPR was administered.

The child was transported by Staff for Life Helicopter to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, where he was pronounced dead at 10:46 a.m.
