He married Sally Cooper (1845-1937) on 2 Feb 1865 in New Maysville, Indiana, and they had seven children: James Cornelius (1866-1895), Cora Anna (1868-1940), Labor Wesley (1972-1919), Franklin Howard (1875-1937), Charles Byron (1978-1956), Clarence Leavenworth (1881-1947), and Elvin Everett (1884-1961). He was a resident of St. Cloud, Florida at the time of his death.
