M-Sgt. David Held

Master-Sgt. David Paul Held, was the son of Benjamin E. and Hattie Elsie (Harras) Held. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 23, 1936 and passed away following surgery at the FitzSimmons General Army Hospital at Denver, Colorado. He was 36 years old.

Sgt. Held was stationed at the 790th Air Force Base in Kirksville and while there met and married the former Mary Ann Toney of Glenwood, Missouri. They were married on March 8, 1963 and to this union one daughter, Dawna Marie was born.

Mary Ann and Woodie were stationed at England A.F.B. at Alexandria, La., then were in Turkey for two years, then at the Keesler Air Base in Biloxi, Mississippi before going to the F. E. Warren A. F. B. at Cheyenne, Wyo.

At an early age, Woodie was converted to the Lutheran faith. He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann and daughter, Dawna Marie Held, a step-daughter, Deena Lyberger and a step-son David Lyberger, his mother Mrs. Hattie Held of Milwaukee, Wis., one sister, Joyce Bannister, also of Milwaukee and one brother Arnin Held of Gonzales, Louisiana, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Lancaster Christian Church, Thursday, June 29, 1972 at 2:00 p.m. with Bob Schofield, minister officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Howard Whitlow as soloist and accompanied by Mrs. Betty Parsons. The selection was "Eternal Father Strong To Save."

Pallbearers were Lynn Parsons, Lloyd Long, Walter Burnett, Jr., Kenneth Toney, Jim Jarvis and R. E. Alexander.

Interment was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery, Lancaster, Mo.

Arrangements were by the Norman Funeral Chapel.
