Rosie Brooks answered the call to be with the Lord on July 4, 2006 at Barstow Community Hospital. She was born to Hall Conway and Viola Smith who preceded her in death in Halletsville, Texas. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age. Rosie met her husband Robert in Texas where they were high school sweethearts. They were united in marriage on Aug. 18, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas. They moved to Barstow in 1966 and soon after united with Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member for 40 years. She served in the kitchen committee faithfully and was a member of the Sunday School until her health would not allow her. She was a member of the Art and Industrial Women's Club in Barstow. Rosie was employed at Crestline and Cameron Elementary Schools as an Instructional Assistant. She worked 25 years until her health forced her to retire. She was a graduate of Stevens Mayo High School in Halletsville, Texas and St. Phillips Jr. College in San Antonio, Texas. She loved to exercise - walking daily. She was a quiet and loving person who loved spending time with family. She leaves to cherish and honor her memory, her husband of 42 years, Robert Brooks; sons, Kevin and Gerard; grandchildren Corin, Cayla, Austin and Jasmine; brother Charles Smith; nephews, Harold and Gerald Smith and niece; Cynthia Smith
