CULLOM -- Orville R. Allen, 90, of Cullom died on Friday (Dec. 10, 2004) at Heritage Manor, Dwight.

The funeral service for Orville will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Cullom United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Sullivan Center Cemetery, rural Cullom. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, 206 N. Maple St., Cullom, and for one hour Monday prior to the service at the church in Cullom.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Cullom United Methodist Church or the Cullom Fire Department Ambulance.

Orville was born on July 23, 1914, in Maroa, the son of the late Francis Merritt and Flora Elizabeth (Goin) Allen. On Nov. 11, 1934, he married Hazel G. Franklin in Decatur. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Barbara J. (William Hooker) Kramer, Dwight; his daughter-in-law, Jewel Allen, Pontiac; his son-in-law, Max (Vicki) Moore, Chatsworth; five grandchildren, Rick Allen, Leanne M. Moore, Jeffrey W. Allen, Steven Moore and David J. Kramer; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Harriet (Norman Shepherd) Marcum, Bloomington; and his brother, Eugene Allen, Gibson City.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Moore in 1991; his son, Richard Allen in 1998; four brothers and one sister.

Mr. Allen was a farmer in the Cullom area and had worked from 1961 for the Stewart Funeral Home and later the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Cullom until his health forced his retirement in mid 1990's.

He was a member of the Cullom United Methodist Church and the Livingston County Farm Bureau. Orville was in the very first class of EMT's in Livingston County and had run ambulance with the Stewart Funeral Home Ambulance and its successor the Cullom Fire Department Ambulance. He had also formerly served on the Cullom Town Board.Son of the late Francis Merritt and Flora Elizabeth (Goin) Allen.

Married Hazel G. Franklin on Nov.11, 1934. She survives.
