Gerald Baker was the son of Oscar Edward Baker and Anna Londo and was born in Grand Rapids on March 2, 1923. He was one of three children. The following is his obituary:
BAKER)- Mr. Gerald J. Baker, aged 66, of Grand Rapids, a veteran of World War II, passed away Monday, December 18, 1989. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Rob (Vickie), Mike, and Pat (Sally) Baker; daughter, Janice Anderson; step-children, John (Susan) Stratton and Mary Stratton; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lou (Hank) Sikkema; sister-in-law, Arlene (Doug) Lillis; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Jude Church, Catholic Information Center Usher's Club and AA of Grand Rapids. Mr. Baker was a retired employee of the Michigan Dept. of Agriculture and a former Grand Rapids Police Officer. A memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions to AA of Grand Rapids or the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
