BELTON — John E. Ansay Sr., 74 of Morgan's Point Resort died Monday, May 23, in a Temple nursing home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with the Rev. Gary Baxley and Sheriff Dan Smith officiating.
The body will be cremated.
Mr. Ansay was born Nov. 14, 1936, in West Warrick, R.I., to Albert and Cecile Chevalier Ansay. He joined the U.S. Army at age 17 and served nine years, retiring at Fort Hood. He married Jean Smith on Aug. 18, 1967, in Temple. He worked for Great Western Investments, who developed the Morgan's Point Resort area. He worked as public works director for Morgan's Point Resort for many years. He also worked for Shallow Ford Construction and I.J.B. Properties. He was active in community service, including the Morgan's Point Resort Volunteer Fire Department, Morgan's Point Resort Optimist Club and the Jaycee's. Ansay Park was named after him for his many years of community service.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Ansay of Morgan's Point Resort; six sons, John E. Ansay Jr. and Jimmy Ansay, both of Temple, Joe Allen Ansay of Troy, Scott Lee Ansay of Zabcikville, Michael Allen Ansay of Morgan's Point Resort, and Stephen Matthew Ansay of Pennsylvania; a brother, Norbert Ansay of Rhode Island; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VistaCare Hospice or the Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation
