Herbert C. Silvious Sr. [Charlotte, N.C.]
CUMBERLAND — Herbert C. Silvious Sr., 80, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009.
Born Feb. 6, 1929, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Henry Martin Silvious and Lulu Virginia (Iser) Silvious. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Carroll T. Silvious, Kenneth M. Silvious, Randolph E. Silvious and Raymond H. Silvious Sr., and two sisters, Evelyn P. Silvious and Alice E. Rummer.
Mr. Silvious was retired from Pan American World Airways in Miami, Fla., and was living in Charlotte. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Goodfellowship Club. He was a United States Marine that served his country during World War II.
Surviving are two sons, Herbert C. Silvious Jr. and wife Donna, of Cooper City, Fla. and Gerald M. Silvious, of Clayton, Ga.; four daughters, Denise S. Martin, of Atlanta, Ga., Diane M. Brown, of Hollywood, Fla., Susan J. Silvious, of Charlotte, and Laura L. Silvious, of Charlotte; two sisters, Naomi E. Rankin, of Cumberland and Shirley A. Eaton, of Raceland, Ky.; nine grandchildren, Melissa, Melinda, Matthew, Brandon, Erin, Katie, Lindsay, Rusty, and Kevin; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Natalie; his former wife, Geraldine A. Silvious, of Cumberland and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, scarpellifuneralhomes.com on Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Dietz officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Glen Cemetery, Green Spring, W.Va.
