FRANCIS "Russ" RUSSOM, 84, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at home. A retired truck driver and courier, Mr. Russom was the son of Zachary and Irene Isbell Russom, he was born on December 20, 1924 in Carlisle, Arkansas. He moved to Memphis in his teens and attended Humes High School. Russ was a WWII Veteran serving in the 4th division of the Marines Corps. He was wounded in 1945 on Iwo Jima. He was an avid racing fan and football fan of Arkansas and Ole Miss. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue Massey Russom; his beloved niece Rosalind Henney of Plymouth, MN; and a nephew Leon Russom of Sherman Oaks, CA; sisters, Aileene Reisz of Owensboro, KY, Valeria Hazlinsky of Memphis, and Doris Hood of Olive Branch. He was a favorite uncle of many nieces and nephews always having a laugh and a smile to share with them. Funeral services will be Monday, September 28, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Fireside Chapel. A visitation will be held Sunday from 4:30 6:30 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Special thanks to Baptist Home Care and Hospice and UT Cancer Institute for their loving care.
