Birth: 1857
Texas, USA
Death: Dec., 1884
Holt County
Missouri, USA

Even though he was born in Texas, George Garrett's family was originally from Powell County, Kentucky. George was a son of Wesley Garrett (1828-1930) and Amanda Welch (1832-abt 1866). He married Louesa "Lou" Morton (1860-1949) in Powell County, Kentucky on January 1, 1881. The couple moved to Indiana where their eldest son, Weeden Andrew Garrett was born near Logansport. Next the family moved to Holt County, Missouri where a second son, William, was born in August, 1884. In November, 1884, the "Holt County Sentinal" had this notation: "On the 20th, George Garrett received severe injuries by being thrown from his wagon, by his team running away." Garrett apparently lived for a month following the accident, but was then buried at the Caton Cemetery. His widow and children left the area following this and went back to live near family in Kentucky.
