Virginia Lopez Hernandez, 91, of Silvas, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, after a lengthy illness, surrouned by her family.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 am Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvas. Visitations will be 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvas. A rosary will be recited at 6 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetry, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or the Diabetes Association.

She was born May 19, 1916,in Horton Kan; to Pedro and Emilia Quinto Lopez. She married Cecil L Hernandez, Sept 7, 1940, in Horton. Cecil died Aug, 22, 1991.

Virginia worked at Project NOW and was a housewife.

She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and also served on the Fiesta at Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Survivors(and their spouses)include her daughters, Adela (Jesse) Lopez, Sterling, Linda (Dan) Stark, East Moline, Rose (Armando) Alvardo, Silvis; sons, Cecil(Rita) Hernandez Jr.,St Charles, Ill., James Hernandez, East Moline, Daniel (Jeanine) Hernandez, Milan, Fred Hernandez, Moline, and Louis Hernandez, Silvas; stepsister, Lupe Garcia, Silvis; 23 grandchildren;27 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry Lopez and Estefan Lopez; and stepbrother, Felix Pecan.

The family thanks her special caretakers duringmom's illness.

She was strong to the end and is at peace.
