Religious figure and Catholic saint. Order of Friars Minor (aka. Franciscan Order in 1209) " and with St Cl, he cofounded the " Order of Poor Ladies (aka. Poor Clares)." Born at Assisi in Umbria in 1181 or 1182 and died there on October 3rd of 1226. St. Francis was the first human ever mentioned by the church to receive the stigmata. (The wounds of Christ on his hands and feet.) The Feast of the Stigmata of St. Francis is kept and celebrated on September 17th. 

Cause of death: Natural Causes, complicated by his extremely austere lifestyle and medical treatments which involved, among other things, the cauterizing of his eyes
